Recruitment and Retention Coordinator, SNR Graduate Programs

My name is Emma Hazel and I am the Recruitment and Retention Coordination for the School of Natural Resources Graduate Programs. A non-Nebraska native originally from Indiana and went to school at Denison University in Ohio, I moved here in 2015 to work as a zookeeper at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. I have a background in animal behavior and training as well as mentoring aspiring zookeepers and environmentalists. I have worked with a variety of species (and people) including giraffe, cheetahs, anteaters, macaws, raptors, porcupines, and different small mammals, reptiles, and birds.

I enjoy spending my free time with my husband and tiny daughter, Ophelia as well as our 3 dogs, Oswald, Ted, and Lewis, and two cats, Bee and Kitten. I enjoy breweries, good snacks, birds, and traveling and figuring out how I can keep a plant alive.
